Mission of Plowshare Fair Trade Marketplace & Education for Peace: Create a more just, sustainable,

and peaceful world through socially responsible shopping and transformative educational experiences.

Our Vision: “Make Peace Relevant to the World Around Us”

Education Committee Charter/Purpose:

● We believe that peace, which is people’s coexistence in harmony with freedom from fear of violence, cannot exist without a foundation of social justice in which everyone’s human rights are recognized impartially at every level of society.

● Through the arts, media, and interpersonal dialogue, we will communicate many ways to build a culture of peace, providing alternatives to the belief that violence is the way to solve conflict.

● We look especially for ways to foster communication, build relationships, and deepen the community’s understanding of diverse ideas, cultures, and human experiences. Our programming will address local and global concerns in areas such as the following:

1. Teachers, Schools, and Youth

2. Gender and Peace

3. Family Peace

4. Environmental Healing and Appreciation

5. Personal Peace and Nonviolence

6. Diversity of Ethnicity, Race, Religion, Gender, Sexual Orientation, Ability and More

7. Economic Justice and Fair Trade

8. Government, Public, and Civic Responsibility

● By collaborating to build a sense of community and mutual support among like-minded organizations, we will amplify our voice and influence.

● We will maintain a Learning Peace Center, including a Little Free Peace Library, at the shop to share our goals and vision.
